OneVit Marine Collagen Complex Product Information

OneVit Marine Collagen Complex is a nutritional supplement that contains two types of marine collagen (type 1 granular marine collagen and type 1 hydrolysed marine collagen), as well as hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) and vitamin C (ascorbic acid).

Marine collagen contributes to skin elasticity, nail strength and hair thickness, while hyaluronic acid enhances skin hydration and vitamin C optimises collagen synthesis in the body.

Each serving contains Quantity NRV*
Type 1 hydrolysed marine collagen 450mg
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 19.2mg 48%
Sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) 30mg 25%

OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contributes to skin, hair and nail health due to the unique mechanisms of its primary ingredients:

  • Marine collagen - Marine collagen is derived from the skin, bones and scales of fish. OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contains two types of marine collagen - type 1 granular marine collagen, which has larger molecules, and type 1 hydrolysed marine collagen, which has smaller molecules. Hydrolysed marine collagen is created by breaking down long-chain collagen into smaller molecules, known as collagen peptides, through a process called hydrolysis. This smaller form facilitates the absorption of hydrolysed marine collagen by the body.
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) - Vitamin C activates certain enzymes involved in the production of collagen, a protein that provides structure to connective tissues in the body. In addition, vitamin C optimises the synthesis of the marine collagen in OneVit Marine Collagen Complex, further enhancing its absorption by the body to support skin, nail and hair health.
  • Sodium hyaluronate - Sodium hyaluronate is derived from hyaluronic acid and has a lower molecular weight, allowing for improved absorption in the body. Sodium hyaluronate contributes to joint lubrication and binds with water molecules in the epidermal skin layer, ensuring the network of proteins that support skin cells and tissues remains hydrated. This mechanism promotes skin hydration, making the skin appear more plump.

  • Skin health - OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contains sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), which helps hydrate the skin, as well as hydrolysed marine collagen, which can improve skin elasticity and the density of the outer layer of the skin. Due to these mechanisms, OneVit Marine Collagen Complex can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with regular use.
  • Nail health - OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contains bioactive collagen peptides, a type of hydrolysed marine collagen designed to stimulate collagen production in skin, hair and nail tissue. Studies have shown that bioactive collagen peptides can increase nail growth by as much as 12% and reduce breakages by as much as 50% over 24 weeks of daily supplementation.
  • Hair health - The bioactive collagen peptides in OneVit Marine Collagen Complex improve hair health by stimulating the production of collagen within the hair follicles, which strengthens the structure of the hair. In addition, OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contains vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which stabilises collagen molecules and acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting hair follicles from damage caused by free radicals. This antioxidative protection is crucial for maintaining healthy hair growth and protecting against environmental damage.

The recommended daily intake of OneVit Marine Collagen Complex is one capsule per day. Individuals who wish to take more than this amount can do so, provided they do not exceed the following amounts:

  • Hydrolysed marine collagen - There is no established maximum daily intake for hydrolysed marine collagen. However, it is recommended to avoid taking more than 15,000mg per day, as this is the maximum amount that has been used in studies on the effects of marine collagen supplementation on the body.
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) - The recommended daily amount (nutrient reference intake) of vitamin C for the average adult is 80mg per day. Some individuals, such as those with a vitamin C deficiency, may be required to take up to 200mg of vitamin C per day if it is recommended by a pharmacist or doctor. Exceeding the recommended amount of vitamin C can result in gastrointestinal symptoms such as an upset stomach and diarrhoea.
  • Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) - There is no established maximum daily intake for hyaluronic acid. However, it is recommended not to exceed doses of 200mg per day, as this is the upper limit commonly used in studies evaluating the effects of hyaluronic acid supplementation on the body.

OneVit Marine Collagen Complex can improve skin, hair and nail health within 6 to 12 weeks for most individuals. However, this timeframe can vary depending on three key factors:

  • Age - The body's natural collagen production decreases with age, primarily due to a gradual reduction in the activity of fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen synthesis. As a result, older individuals might experience more significant improvements in skin, hair and nail health from taking OneVit Marine Collagen Complex, although it may take longer for these effects to manifest due to their lower baseline levels of collagen. Conversely, younger individuals may see results more quickly but the improvements may be less noticeable, as their natural collagen production is already relatively high.
  • Diet - Vitamin and mineral intake is tied to the types of food consumed each day. Some diets may result in a deficiency in vitamin C, which is essential for stabilising collagen molecules, or zinc, which activates enzymes that produce collagen. Deficiencies in these nutrients can prolong the time it takes to experience the desired results of OneVit Marine Collagen Complex.
  • Lifestyle - Certain lifestyle habits can delay the positive effects of OneVit Marine Collagen Complex on skin, hair and nail health. For example, smoking tobacco reduces blood flow to the skin and increases the production of an enzyme known as ‘matrix metalloproteinase’, which contributes to breaking down collagen fibres and accelerates skin ageing.

OneVit Marine Collagen Complex contains marine collagen derived from fish, making it unsuitable for vegetarians, vegans, and/or individuals who are allergic to fish.

Moreover, individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication should consult a doctor before taking OneVit Marine Collagen Complex.

  • OneVit Omega 3 - The omega-3 fatty acids in OneVit Omega 3 are converted into resolvins and protectins that inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines, reducing skin inflammation. OneVit Omega 3 also improves the skin’s ability to retain moisture (by contributing to the lipid layer in the skin) and prevents the excessive buildup of keratin in the follicles, preventing acne and skin dryness. Due to these mechanisms, it can be beneficial to take OneVit Omega 3 alongside OneVit Marine Collagen Complex to support skin and hair health.
  • OneVit Magnesium - Magnesium contributes to the synthesis of numerous types of protein in the body, including collagen. Moreover, magnesium is known to contribute to cellular processes linked to skin cell repair and regeneration. Therefore, taking OneVit Magnesium with OneVit Marine Collagen Complex can further enhance the skin health benefits of OneVit Marine Collagen Complex.
