What is Regaine and how does it work?
Regaine Extra Strength Solution 5% is an effective treatment for hereditary hair loss in men. Regaine has been clinically proven to be effective in stopping further hair loss in 4 out of 5 men and encouraging hair regrowth in 3 out 5. The medication contains minoxidil as its active ingredient, which aids blood flow to the hair follicles of the scalp to increase the follicle size and hair shaft diameter. This prevents further hair loss and promotes hair regrowth.
Can I use Regaine?
Regaine is recommended for men who have hereditary hair loss, who are aged between 18-65. It works best for men who experience thinning of the hair, or small ‘coin-sized’ patches of hair loss. If you have been bald for many years, or have very large areas of hair loss on your head, Regaine may not work as well.
How effective is Regaine?
Regaine has been shown to stabilise hair loss in 8 out of 10 men. It is important to remember that hair growth is a slow process. Soft, downy hair growth may be seen in as little as 8 weeks, but can take up 12-16 weeks. There are several factors which may influence how well Regaine works for you, including the predominance of hereditary hair loss in your family, the cause of the hair loss, the area of the scalp affected, and the length of time you have been losing your hair for.
How long does Regaine take to work?
Everyone is different, and results from Regaine vary from person to person. Clinical studies have shown that hair regrowth may be seen as early as 8 weeks, but you should allow up to 16 weeks to notice results. One canister of Regaine lasts for approximately one month. Using more than the recommended dose, or applying it more often, will not make hair grow any faster. It is recommended to keep using Regaine for as long as desired to maintain effect. If you haven’t seen any results after using Regaine solution for 1 year, you should discontinue the product.
How should I use it?
Make sure your head is dry before applying 1ml of the Regaine Solution 5% to the effected area on your scalp twice a day, every day. Massage the solution gently into your scalp. Leave at least 12 hours before the next application and do not use the solution more than twice a day.
What is the different between Regaine Extra Strength Foam 5% and Regaine Extra Strength Solution 5%?
The main difference is that Regaine 5% Foam is licensed for men with hereditary hair loss between the ages of 18 and 49 while Regaine 5% Solution is licensed for men up to the age of 65. This is due to the product's efficacy for patients and the method of action.
