Sominex tablets are an effective sleeping aid used to treat short-term insomnia. It contains the active ingredient promethazine hydrochloride. It’s suitable for adults over the age of 16 who are experiencing temporary difficulty sleeping.

Sominex is available over the counter in the UK. Your doctor or pharmacist will ask a few questions to make sure the medication is suitable for you.
What is the recommended dosage of this treatment?
The recommended dosage of Sominex is one tablet per day, just before you go to bed. The medication should not be taken for more than seven days in a row. If your sleep has still not improved after seven days, you should stop treatment and consult your GP or pharmacist.
When should Sominex not be used?
Sominex should not be used if you are allergic to promethazine hydrochloride or any of the other listed ingredients. You should not take this medication if you have recently had any head injury, such as concussion or a strong blow to the head. Do not take this medication if you are feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
How should I store Sominex?
Sominex should be stored in a dry, cool environment that does not exceed 25°C.
